John Harding received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1973, receiving a double major in Sociology and Social Work. Following college, John farmed for 12 years before returning to law school where he went on to earn his Juris Doctorate degree from Drake University in 1989. At Drake University Law School he received the American Juris Prudence Award for excellent achievement in the study of Torts. He is a member of the Iowa Bar Association, US District Court for the Northern District of Iowa, US District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, and the U.S. Court of Appeals. He received the Iowa State Bar Association Pro Bono Award.
